French chocolate specialist Valrhona has introduced new eco-designed packaging for its Ballotin and 18-square gift boxes.
The recyclable packaging, which uses less cardboard than in the past, aims to reduce environmental impact and offer a substantial reduction in packaging weight.
The new presentations are supported by a promotional plan, which includes a GWP organic cotton shopping bag on purchases over €40. A new point-of-sale poster, and display unit, highlight the benefits of the new packaging and Valrhona’s commitment to sustainability.
The Ballotin Gift Boxes offer a gourmet assortment of chocolates, with an extended ten-month best-before date.
The 230g assortment of 25 chocolates in eight varieties includes Macaé 62% grand cru dark chocolate ganache and raspberry ganache sprinkled with biscuit pieces. A 345g presentation offers 37 chocolates in 13 varieties which include cappuccino ganache and fruity almond and hazelnut praline.
Flavours in the 700g gift box include a tiramisu Ivoire chocolate ganache. Orangettes (130g) also come in upgraded packaging.
Valrhona has opted to replace tin packaging with cardboard for its 18-square gift boxes. The 90g boxes include the tannin-rich Abinao 85%, which showcases African cocoa, and Jivara 40%, which Valrhona describes as its “most iconic” milk chocolate.
A Dark & Milk Taster Gift Box offers Valrhona’s best-selling Grand Crus – Abinao 85%, Guanaja 70% and Jivara 40% – in one box.
Valrhona exhibited for the first time at last month’s Summit of the Americas. Valrhona e-Commerce Sales and Trade Marketing Manager Genevieve Opraseuth said the company was consolidating its business in Europe, Asia and the Middle East and had the US market as its next target.
Valrhona products are available in two airports in North America, with Paradies Lagardère at JFK International and Dufry at Vancouver International, and with Dufry at Arturo Merino Benítez Santiago International Airport in Chile.
“We are hoping to reach 20 airports in the Americas by the end of the year,” Opraseuth said.
