USA. The Chicago Department of Aviation is hosting a ‘Fashion Packed’ competition challenging fashion design students from Columbia College to create garments using recycled materials from airlines.

The garments must be completed within a week and accessorised with an item from a store at O’Hare International Airport.

The challenge kicks off today (24 February) in International Terminal 2 Departures Level. A draw will determine the order in which students can claim their accessory item and choose from the airline-donated materials, which will be displayed in wire baskets.

The completed garments will be on show at O’Hare International Airport during March, and passengers will be encouraged to vote for their favourite design.

On 31 March a panel of judges will add their votes to the tally for the most innovative garment.
