“Two of the highest liquor & tobacco sales locations in the world” – Anway reacts with delight to key Hong Kong railway station duty free concession win

mtr_logo_200HONG KONG. Anway Chief Executive Officer Baker Salleh has reacted with delight to the company’s successful retention of its key duty free concession at Hung Hom, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations.

As revealed by The Moodie Davitt Report, the Hong Kong-based NWS Holdings subsidiary, trading as Free Duty (Sky Connection Ltd/Anway Ltd), was awarded the five-year contract after a highly competitive open tender conducted by MTR Corporation.

Salleh told The Moodie Davitt Report: “The tender was difficult and there was very strong competition for what are probably two of the highest liquor & tobacco sales locations in the world.

As reported earlier, the win is a big fillip for the retailer, not just in its own right but also as a boost in the run-up to the forthcoming core category bids at Hong Kong International Airport. There Sky Connection is certain to mount a strong bid for the liquor & tobacco concession at least.

The tender, which was launched through The Moodie Davitt Report, covered a series of key travel retail locations: Hung Hom Station is the hub for the Guangzhou-Kowloon through train carrying both business and leisure travellers; Lo Wu Station serves as the primary connection for rail travellers between Mainland China and Hong Kong; and Lok Ma Chau Station is a direct immigration control connection with the Longhua Line adjoining Shenzhen Metro’s Futian Port Station.
