Two new F&B brands debut at Baltimore/Washington International Airport

USA. Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport last week held grand openings for two new dining concepts. Rita’s Italian Ice and Brother’s BBQ Pitstop are now open to travellers in Concourse C and the Main Terminal, respectively.

Restaurateur Tisha Skinner, who has previously opened a Smoothie King at the airport, franchised the first airport location for Rita’s Italian Ice, a popular East Coast dessert shop. Streetside Rita’s shops specialise in Italian ices and frozen custards, but Skinner’s airport location will also feature baked goods and other food items to suit all dayparts.

Brothers BBQ Pitstop offers Southern homestyle favourites like barbecue sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread. The restaurant has been in Sandra Long’s family for 70 years, and she partnered with airport concessions manager Fraport Maryland to bring her legacy brand to the airport’s Main Terminal.

“With the arrival of RITA’s Italian Ice and Brother’s BBQ Pitstop, the commitment to local and minority participation in the BWI Marshall concessions programme is alive and well,” said Fraport Maryland Vice President Gary Gilliard.

“Fraport Maryland, Inc. is renowned for meeting and often exceeding the concession program ACDBE contribution goal. The opening of these two merchants offers the travelling public an even greater traveller experience at BWI Marshall Airport.”

Both concessionaires are ACDBE-certified business owners in the state of Maryland.
