Turn up the sound: Pasco introduces new ear and headphones at Cannes

Travel retail electronics distributor Pasco will unveil B&O Play’s “first truly wireless” earphones at next month’s TFWA World Exhibition & Conference (Marine village R1).

The new earphones are included in a range of products, which include Philips Everlite headphones, to be presented at the event.

B&O Play’s Beoplay E8 is said to combine simplicity and style with industry-leading sound and a design which is “at the heart of the Bang & Olufsen heritage”.

“Truly wireless”: Beoplay E8 is tuned by Bang & Olufsen sound engineers

B&O Play CEO John Mollanger said Beoplay E8 is the “perfect companion” for consumers who do not want to trade in sound and design for true wireless freedom. He described the new line as a discreet and stylish technology statement.

The splash- and dust-resistant Beoplay E8 is operated by removing the earphones from the charging case and tapping on the interface. Users can listen to music, switch between tracks, take calls and activate voice commands. The Transparency Mode lets the user decide how much ‘real-world’ they want to hear.

All actions are controlled by the earphones’ intuitive touch interface.

Beoplay E8 is claimed to deliver up to four hours of music on one charge; two additional charges are available from the pocket-sized charging case. Beoplay E8 has small magnets built into each earphone. Clicking them into the charging case automatically powers down the earphones and starts to charge them.

Philips Everlite headphones will be spotlighted by Pasco at the Cannes event

B&O Play Global Product Manager Libor Matus said: “Focusing primarily on sound and design was basically what allowed for the best-in-class sound that comes with Beoplay E8.

“When designing earphones, you want to strike the perfect balance between size, ergonomics and sound quality. The more features you include in an earphone, the less space you have for components that are crucial for the reproduction of sound. With iteration after iteration, we continuously moulded the space in Beoplay E8 to integrate components that deliver the best sound quality.”

Beoplay App is available for Android, iPhone and Apple Watch. The earphones are presented in a Black or Charcoal Sand leather charging case, with five ear tips and charging cable. Recommended retail price is €299 and the product will be available on www.beoplay.com/E8 and in Bang & Olufsen and selected stores from 12 October. Separate Beoplay E8 left and right earphones will retail at €129 and a charging case at €99.

Philips Everlite headphones are described as ‘ultra’ light and slim, with soft ear cushions for long-wearing comfort. The black headphones fold flat, are remote controlled for hands-free calls and music, and have tilting 32mm speaker drivers for clear sound.

Philips said the over-ear design reduces ambient noise.
