Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has named Simon Carter as General Manager, Global Travel. He replaces Barry Galloway, who “has decided to explore opportunities in other regions and spend more time with his family,” according to the company.

Simon Carter: Steps into top travel retail role after working with Treasury Wine Estates since 2002.

Carter will manage the sales operations for TWE’s portfolio with “a focus on business acceleration and expansion in the global travel retail channels”. He will report to Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Africa, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Global Customers and Global Travel Retail Kinyi Choo.

Based in Adelaide, South Australia, Carter has been with the TWE business since May 2002 and has held a number of key sales roles during that time. He joined the Global Travel Team as Regional Manager of Australia and New Zealand in August 2014.

There, said the company, “he step-changed the visibility of brands such as Penfolds, Wolf Blass, Wynns and Matua in key travel retail locations including Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland airports”. Over the last 18 months, Carter was Head of On-Premise Sales, Australia.

“Simon brings great leadership experience, commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the global travel retail channel that will enable him to lead and drive growth of the TWE brand portfolio across the global travel business,” said Kinyi Choo.
