Travelex awards global pay rise to staff hit by rising cost of living

INTERNATIONAL. Leading foreign exchange provider Travelex has implemented a global pay rise for all staff in markets where the increased cost of living is proving most challenging. The rise will benefit over 3,000 retail and operations staff in 15 countries.

The company said it has made the move in recognition of staff contribution to the business amid unprecedented trading conditions in recent years.

The rise forms part of Travelex’s evolving employee value proposition (EVP), which has been redesigned to make it the “go-to employer of choice” within the retail foreign exchange industry.

The EVP, which is tailored to each international market Travelex operates in, offers benefits including medical cover and the ability to work in a hybrid manner. It has also increased holiday allowances, depending on where staff are based and the requirements of their role.

Last year Travelex announced the creation of more than 1,200 new international jobs across retail, wholesale and head office operations following new contract wins and the rebound of the international travel industry.  As reported, one of the most recent examples of job creation has come at Travelex operations in airports across Australia and New Zealand.

On the back of a significant roll-out of new Travelex stores around the world in 2022, the company said it currently has openings for hundreds of frontline and support staff across the business (pictured: Travelex outlet in Heathrow Airport T5)

Travelex CEO Richard Wazacz said: “Ever since I arrived at Travelex I have been taken aback by the level of commitment, determination and professionalism demonstrated by our colleagues. They are an exceptional group of people who have supported the company through challenging market conditions in recent years.”

He added: “As the cost of living crisis continues in many parts of the world, it is only right that we, as a people-focused employer, now offer them our full support in return.”

“I sincerely appreciate what the company has done recently with salary increments. During a period where the cost of living is significantly rising, it does really help and it’s a very clear sign that Travelex is committed to its people.”
