UK. Travel Retail Consortium (TRC) has raised just over £500 to support the Children’s Hyperinsulinism Charity.
The charity raises funds to support families living in the UK, Northern Ireland and Ireland who have children with Congenital Hyperinsulinism, a rare disorder affecting approximately one in 50,000 children in the UK.
The money was raised through a raffle at TRC’s annual day-event for its airline, airport and ferry customers.
The event was held during the recent King George V1 Racing Weekend at Ascot Racecourse. Over 70 TRC members and guests participated in a day of horse-racing, with a six-race card including the John Guest Brown Jack Stakes. To help betting choices, pre-racing tips were provided by ex-jockey and racing pundit Colin Brown.
The event included a tasting of the new Taittinger Prelude Champagne and a small trade exhibition of members’ product lines. Accolade Wines and Twinings also supported the initiative.
Travel Retail Consortium Chairman Rebecca Harwood-Lincoln said the event encouraged networking and showcased TRC members’ product lines.
P&O Ferries Head of Buying and Merchandising Nicola Tompkins commented: “The TRC is a fantastic organisation, bringing suppliers and retailers together to network and discuss new opportunities. Aside from the business element, their events are also great fun and our recent day at Ascot was no exception. The team at P&O Ferries very much values these days and appreciates being a part of the TRC network.”
Harding Retail Director of Buying Suzanne Mahoney added: “Ascot Racecourse was the perfect choice of venue and it was a fun and interactive day. As always, the TRC events are great to catch up with old and new colleagues and meet with some of our valued vendors and suppliers.”
Representatives from Alpha Group, Ambassadors Choice, British Airways, Brittany Ferries, Condor, DFASS, Dufry, Gate Retail, Harding Retail, Lagardère Travel Retail, P&O Ferries, Retail In Motion and Tourvest Inflight Retail Services attended the event.
