INDIA. Travel Food Services is to eliminate the use of plastic at Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji, Chennai and Kolkata Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose international airports.
The food & beverage company has replaced plastic consumables across 156 outlets, and will be plastic-free by the end of 2018-19.
Travel Food Services said it would incorporate eco-friendly packaging that is oxy-biodegradable and make use of materials made of biodegradable items like sugar bagasse, bamboo and paper.
As well as its airport F&B outlets, the company also manages five lounges at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal 2, two in Kolkata, and six in Chennai.
“We at Travel Food Services are extremely proud of our decision to become 100% plastic free by the end of 2018-19,” said COO and Business Head Gaurav Dewan.
“Our decision to eliminate plastic is our way to focus towards the betterment of the environment. We are looking at best alternatives to provide sustainable solutions for our customers. Since TFS is always in an expansion mode, even the new outlets to be opened in future will be free of plastic.”
