Traffic growth boosts Zürich Airport commercial turnover but average spend dips

SWITZERLAND. Zürich Airport turnover from retail and food & beverage climbed by +2.1% year-on-year in July, hitting CHF57.9 million (US$58.3 million). Within this, airside sales increased by an encouraging +5.5%, with landside sales down by -2.9%. The figures were aided by a +4.9% rise in passenger traffic to 3.1 million. Within this, intercontinental (long haul) traffic climbed by +10.8%.

Turnover per departing passenger in the month slipped by -2.7% to CHF37 (US$37.27). In airside areas the figure climbed by +0.5% (-7.4% landside).

In the first seven months of the year, commercial turnover increased by +4.1% to CHF342.9 million (US$345.4 million). Turnover per departing passenger was CHF38.70 (US$38.99), down by -1.9% on the same period last year.
