SPAIN. Tous has expanded its presence in European travel retail with a new standalone store in Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport. The affordable luxury jewellery brand now has five points of sale across different Spanish airports in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Bilbao, and Málaga.
Tous currently has 700 stores in 54 countries. As part of its omnichannel expansion strategy, the company is looking to integrate its domestic, travel retail, wholesale, and ecommerce channels. It also plans to open more airport stores in the coming months.
The new store is 60sqm and features new jewellery displays and a self-service tower. It offers Tous’s complete collection, as well as some travel retail exclusive jewellery and leather goods.
In 2018, the jewellery brand accelerated its international growth and recorded net profit of €27.3 million. End-customer sales grew +4.5% compared to 2017 and reached €466 million.
In the same year, Tous invested €55 million (an increase of +15% compared to 2017) into innovation, brand development, store construction and renovations.
Tous entered the online channel in five new countries in the last year, and online sales now account for 8% of the company’s global revenues. Ecommerce grew +43% compared to the previous year in 2018 and has become the company’s third-largest market in sales.
Overall, Tous experienced growth across all of its product categories, with fine jewellery making up a large percentage of the sales at 67%.
Tous said it will continue the development of its omnichannel retailing, service flexibility, and digital transformation ahead of its hundredth anniversary in 2020. To celebrate the occasion, Tous has six months of exciting events, activations, and promotions planned from the beginning of the year, until the official anniversary in June 2020.
Last month, Tous partnered with The Moodie Davitt Report to celebrate #WorldTeddyBearDay.
