Tiny travellers’ top tips: Heathrow celebrates young high flyers

UK. London Heathrow has released a light-hearted short film to celebrate the increase in children under five flying through the airport up +15% in the past five years. Thousands of under-fives have taken their first flight so far in 2016, the airport operator noted.

‘Top Tips from Tiny Travellers’, released ahead of the busy half-term week, features a team of five and seven-year-olds sharing top airport tips, including the availability of personal shopping and kids-eat-free meals.

Passengers travelling through Heathrow can view the film on the Heathrow Express train [which connects the airport to central London and offers free travel for children under the age of 15] as well as on the airport’s YouTube channel.

Heathrow said the average five-year-old of today is expected to fly over half a million miles during their lifetime – the equivalent of flying to the moon and back [based on flying an average of 7,000 miles every year over 70 years and the moon being 225,623 miles away at its closest].

The top five most-visited holiday destinations of these young travellers include the USA, India, the UAE, Canada and Italy.

“It is extremely important to us that each and every passenger who travels through Heathrow has a fantastic experience during their journey,” said Heathrow Airport Head of Passenger Experience Fiona Carleton. “We hope our tiniest travellers help to give passengers a fun insight in how to make the most of their time with us, whether they are seven or 70.”
