This week on WeChat: New product launches, Double 12 offers, and festive promotions

The end of Black Friday sale marks a new beginning for other key shopping periods, including Double 12 and year-end festive offers. This week, travel retailers focus on promoting new products and exclusive offerings and launching previews of what’s to come.

GDF Plaza

Global Premium Duty Free (GDF) Plaza is celebrated the Double 12 shopping festival. In addition to further discounts off regular duty free retail prices on newly introduced brands including Penhaligon’s, Christian Louboutin, Urban Decay, and Rituals, GDF is running discounts as high as -35% off on a variety of products.

From December 6-12, customers can enjoy buy 1 get -30% off and buy 3 get -35% off on select perfume and beauty products, and buy 1 get -35% off on liquor. GDF is also running special promotions on handbags from See by Chloe and Michael Kors and shoes from Stuart Weitzman.

A livestream will take place tonight (10 December) at 19:30 where customers can enjoy exclusive offers. Coupons for the other upcoming livestreams can be obtained at offline stores on 11-12 December, where customers can scan the QR code for coupons to shop for livestream-only limited sales.

A lucky draw promotion is also a must-have for the shopping season. Customers with a single purchase of over CNY4,000 (US$628) can enter a lucky draw on 12 December.

Other GDF Double 12 promotions include cash coupons (CNY50 (US$7.80) off CNY1,000 (US$157); CNY100 (US$15.60) off CNY1,800 (US$283), buy 1 get -15% off & buy 2 get -20% off on toys, -15% off watches, and buy 1 get -30% off & buy 2 get 45% off glasses.

China Duty Free Group

China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has unveiled a series of promotions in December across various CDFG platforms and mini-programs. In general, new customers of CDFG will receive 50 loyalty points upon sign-up and registration. Gift coupons incl. CNY200 (US$31) off CNY1,000 (US$157) are also given to customers as part of the ‘Double Twelve’ promotion.

In Hong Kong, CDF Beauty is offering 2x loyalty points until 12 December and buy 3 get extra -30% off until December 14. Duty Zero by CDF is offering up to -60% off on liquor, and HKD120 (US$18.85) off any HKD1,200 (US$188.50) purchase. CDF Guangzhou is featuring 2-3x loyalty points until 31 December and -40% off flash sale on 10-11 December. Special sales at CDF Hangzhou and Hainan feature up to -40% off on skincare and cosmetics.

In addition, CDFG also shares a list of bestsellers and the best deals possible that could be applied. Customers are encouraged to use the Double 12 coupons on top of loyalty points to get the best bargain, including CNY1,897 (US$298) for a 100ml La Mer Moisturizing Cream (vs. regular duty-free promotion at CNY2,232/US$350); Clé de Peau Beauté skincare set at CNY1,360/US$214 (vs. CNY1,657/US$260)); Michael Kors handbag at CNY1,835/US$288 (vs. CNY2,166/US$340), and Dyson vacuum cleaner at CNY1,888/US$296 (vs. CNY2,223/US$349).

CNSC

CNSC’s key promotion this week is Duc de Fugue Cognac. This limited time only promotion (lasts until 31 December) offers -30% off most Duc de Fugue expressions and a special sale on 11 select products, including Cognac VSOP at CNY226 (US$35.50), VSOP Fine Cognac for CNY255 (US$40), the Cognac XO at CNY 582, and the Diamond Extra Cognac at CNY 1,1870.

Sunrise Duty Free

Sunrise Duty Free is running a very competitive sale this year. Instead of offering a formula of buy more in order for extra discounts, Sunrise is applying its discount to a minimum of 1-item purchase. Bestsellers that had been out of stock for a long time are also replenished, including double serum from Clarins, Absolue cream from Lancôme, and Ultra Facial Cream from Kiehl’s.

Customers are also eligible for purchasing an Estée Lauder surprise gift box for CNY1 per CNY2,500 (US$392) spend on the brand (capped at five gift boxes per customer). Sunrise offers a preview of some of the gift boxes, but all gift boxes are handed out randomly.

HTDF

For customers searching for the best Christmas gift, HTDF is definitely a must-see.

The latest Christmas limited-edition products are also on sale at HTDF, where most items are eligible for buy 1 and get-30% off, including the cosmos-inspired Atelier Cologne gift set with packages designed by artist Daria Hlazatova; the glittery starlight gift collection by Jo Malone; the cross-over skincare collection by Kiehl’s x Marylou Faure; the Garden of Splendor Holiday collection by Clé de Peau Beauté; the Andy Warhol limited-edition Pitera Essence from SK-II; and Shiseido’s Bond with Gift from the Heart.

In addition to the sales at offline outlets, HTDF is also launching promotions on Tik Tok via livestream. Three hosts anchored the latest promotion for La Mer on 8 December for a special line-up of livestream-exclusive super deals. Customers can also visit the pop-up store within the HTDF shopping complex in Sanya (December 2-31) and shop for duty free-exclusive sets.

Times DF Mission Hills

This week on WeChat, TimesDF Mission Hills introduces luxury stays, skincare routines, and a range of exclusive premium liquor.

Customers can enjoy a promotion of up to -70% off in December on perfume, cosmetics, boutique, accessories, and electronics. A preview of the offer is now available on the WeChat OA, including -40% off Chloé and Miu Miu perfume, -20% off VSOP Fine Champagne Cognac from Rémy Martin, -70% off a Furla handbag, and -40% off the popular Foreo Luna Mini 3.

Customers making payments using credit cards starting with number 62 via the Yunshanfu app can enjoy CNY100 off CNY1,000 spend, and an additional CNY238 (US$37.40) off CNY 3,000 (US$472) spend if the card is issued by BOC and added to the BOC mobile app or Yunshanfu app for payment. Customers using Alipay are eligible to enter a lucky draw /with a maximum prize of CNY10,000 (US$1,570) shopping for free.

A liquor promotion this week offers up to -30% off and 3x loyalty points focuses on Hennessy and Duc de Fugue Cognacs, The Dalmore, Old Pulteney, and Johnnie Walker.

The hospitality promotions this week focus on two segments – a Mission Hills holiday getaway package, and recommendations for nearby international five-star hotels. For those seeking luxurious stay and convenience, Times DF Mission Hills recommends the Ritz-Carlton and the Renaissance, as both hotels are only 300 metres from the shopping complex and offer premium hospitality services.

The Ritz-Carlton offers 191 spacious modern guest rooms, 16 suites and 16 villas as well as 3 restaurants offering classic Cantonese, Hainan, and Italian cuisine. DFS is offering plenty of alluring festive offers for the upcoming Christmas and New Year at both its offline and online stores. It is presenting one of its newly introduced skincare brands, Shiseido Group’s Drunk Elephant, on the WeChat OA.

The skincare products are available at four T Galleria stores in Hong Kong and Macau, and free moisturizer and cleanser are given for purchases above HKD/MOP 800 (US$103).

Apart from introducing the latest brands, DFS is also running two livestreams this week to celebrate the upcoming new year. The first, dedicated to Guerlain Orchidée Impériale collection, was held yesterday (9 December).

Customers who purchased select products via the livestream received an additional gift set of the collection that includes a serum, a face cream, and an eye cream.

The second livestream is scheduled at 19:00-21:00 on 16 December, featuring a wide selection of products including wine, watches, sunglasses, Marc Jacobs handbag, Bobbi Brown eye shadow, and Fresh skincare set. Customers can interact with hosts during the livestreaming to enter a lucky draw for prizes worth up to CNY760 (US$120).

DFS has also stocked up its online shop for those who prefer to stay at home. Customers receive additional samples or gift sets when purchasing Fresh, Givenchy, and Jo Malone products via the online portal.
