The Tweet taste of success: Bowmore celebrates new expressions on Twitter

The virtual event showcased five drams from the Bowmore Timeless Series, culminating with the travel retail-exclusive 31 Year Old single malt

Beam Suntory-owned Islay single malt scotch whisky distillery Bowmore has teamed up with The Whisky Wire Founder Steve Rush to host a Bowmore ‘Tweet Tasting’ event in celebration of the Bowmore Timeless Series.

Rush was joined by co-host Bowmore Distillery Manager David Turner.

The virtual event, held entirely on Twitter on 25 February, showcased five drams from Bowmore, including two from the Timeless Series.

These were the 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, 18 Year Old, as well as the new 27 Year Old and travel retail-exclusive 31 Year Old Timeless Series expressions.

Rush and Turner took participants on a ‘journey through time’ by asking them to tweet their own interpretations of each expression. The Bowmore Timeless Series was crafted to capture the essence of the island of Islay and combines rich smoky flavours with notes of exotic fruit and sea salt.

The event also saw the debut of French filmmaker Thomas Vanz’s new ‘Timeless’ film which pays homage to the craftsmanship and heritage of the Bowmore Distillery.

The Moodie Davitt Report Fashion, Beauty & Social Media Editor Hannah Tan-Gillies attended the twitter event and was live-tweeting the flavour profiles of each dram

As reported, only 3,000 bottles of the 31 Year Old whisky have been produced worldwide. It was aged in ex-Bourbon casks for 29 years to allow the single malt to reach peak maturation. Afterwards, the liquid was transferred to Spanish oak Matusalem sherry-seasoned butts for an additional two years to further develop the floral, honey, vanilla and peppermint-infused flavours.

The Bowmore Timeless 31 Year Old was launched in selected travel retail markets on 22 February.
