Sustainable fashion brand Kind Bag will make its travel retail debut with Qatar Duty Free, after being named as one of the ten finalists of The QDF Factor.
As reported, the competition was an unprecedented partnership between Qatar Duty Free and The Moodie Davitt Report to encourage and champion creativity at a time when travel retail needs it most.
Kind Bag — along with all other finalists — receives a complimentary six-month listing at Qatar Duty Free’s award-winning offer at Hamad International Airport, Doha.
The move to offer listings to all ten finalists was revealed by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive His Excellency Akbar Al Baker during an interview with Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie on the first day of the Virtual Travel Retail Expo last week.
Kind Bag offers a selection of reusable printed bags in a variety of colours and prints. It is made with a 100% Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (RPET) material that is lightweight, durable, water-resistant and can be folded into a compact travel-friendly pouch. Each Kind Bag is made with six plastic bottles and can hold up to 20kg.
Kind Bag is also donating 10% of all profits to Just One Ocean to help preserve ocean biodiversity.
According to the brand, travel retail presents a great opportunity to reach eco-conscious travellers.
Kind Bag was founded by Maria Rodriguez whose aim was to design a product that can help combat plastic pollution. “There’s a horrifying amount of plastic waste floating in the world’s oceans,” Rodriguez said. “If we continue as we are, scientists predict there will be more plastic in the sea than fish by 2050. These disheartening facts made me want to take on the plastic soup and do something about reducing single-use plastic. Kind Bag gives plastic bottles a sustainable makeover.”
Commenting on Kind Bag’s participation in The QDF Factor, Rodriguez said, “Everyone at Kind Bag feels very grateful for the opportunity of being one of the ten amazing finalists in The QDF Factor.
“We are all very excited about the six-month listing at Qatar Duty Free and we cannot wait to share our mission towards a more sustainable world with international travellers. This is just the beginning of the Kind Bag journey, we have big plans and see travel retail as a route to increasing our global footprint, reaching more consumers.”
