This week, Globuy began its duty free news flash by sharing some of the biggest updates on the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. With confirmed Chinese cases showing a downward trend, Globuy reported on how Beijing and Shanghai have imposed new quarantine measures for travellers coming from South Korea, Japan, Iran, and Italy — regardless of whether they are Chinese or foreign nationals.

According to Globuy, Thailand has announced similar quarantine measures for travellers coming from China, South Korea, and Italy.

It also shared video footage from Japan showing an an empty Tokyo Disneyland and Universal Studios Osaka; which were closed temporarily to curb the spread of the virus.

This was followed by news from Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways, which have both significantly reduced their flight capacities to and from Mainland China.

Globuy also reported on how British Airways and Lufthansa have reduced flight capacities, and how Exeter-based airline Flybe has gone into administration.

As reported, the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) took the seemingly inevitable and appropriate decision to cancel the upcoming TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference due to the escalating COVID-19 outbreak.

Figures across the travel retail industry have voiced their support of the decision.

In more positive news, the duty free news flash continued with our story on the newly launched Rouge Hermès lipstick range. As reported, the new lipstick collection is is made up of 24 high-pigment hues in matte and satin finishes. The matte finish lipsticks were inspired by the brand’s famed Birkin bag; while the satin finish lipsticks were inspired by its sprawling silk archives.

In addition, Globuy also shared our Image/Video of the Day from King Power Rangnam, which showed shoppers forming a lengthy queue to buy the new Rouge Hermès lipstick range. According to King Power, Rouge Hermès Satin Lipstick in Rouge H #85 has proven to be very popular with Chinese consumers.
