INTERNATIONAL. Welcome to the latest issue of The Moodie Davitt e-Zine. Since taking up a role as Operations Manager in Honolulu in 1967, Joe Lyons has contributed enormously to DFS’s glittering success story, and to the travel retail industry, in 50 years of service.

DFS celebrated the now North America Vice President, Business Development’s remarkable achievement with a surprise dinner party in Los Angeles. The event was attended by several long-standing associates and colleagues, as well as The Moodie Davitt Report.

Elsewhere in the issue, we present some of the top talking points from the official opening of Dufry-owned World Duty Free’s new walk-through duty free store at London Gatwick’s North Terminal.

The near-2,000sq m store employs extensive digital technology to deliver a more dynamic, and more personal, shopping experience. “We have really thought about how to use digital from a customer-centric perspective,” said Dufry General Manager UK & Germany Fred Creighton. “The customer experience is dramatically improved.”

We also explore Holovis’ use of immersive technologies such as augmented and virtual reality to create customer experiences specifically for travel retail in our regular Positive Disruptors column, in association with Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

Finally, we celebrate the best in customer service in The Front Line with new partner Copper Dog. This issue features a Gebr Heinemann sales assistant from the company’s store at Catania Airport in Sicily, Italy.

Please enjoy this edition of The Moodie Davitt e-Zine with our compliments.
