INTERNATIONAL. Welcome to the latest issue of The Moodie Davitt e-Zine. Shannon Airport this week unveiled a bronze bust of Dr Brendan O’Regan, who opened the world’s first duty free shop there in 1947, as a lasting tribute to the “innovator, entrepreneur and, ultimately, great man”.

The unveiling was timed to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth (Dr O’Regan passed away in 2008). To celebrate the life and achievements of the visionary Irishman, we reproduce two articles from our landmark 2007 publication ‘The World Rovers’, which documents the impact of the Irish on the global travel retail and duty free industry.

Elsewhere in the issue Aéroports de la Côte D’Azur Chief Commercial Officer Filip Soete describes how the final phase of the major Terminal 2 transformation at Nice Airport is taking shape. The multi-million Euro investment should help create “the most surprising commercial experience at a European airport”, a pledge the company made when it completed T1 last year.

Aer Rianta International and Diageo have launched the world’s first Guinness Export House at Dublin Airport. It tells the brand’s travel and export story through immersive experiences, and expertly captures Sense of Place. We hear from the partners about their aims and ambitions for the innovative concept.

In The Travel Retail World INVU, in association with INVU sunglasses and sponsored by Swiss Eyewear Group, we look back at some of the pictorial highlights from the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference in Singapore.

Please enjoy this edition of The Moodie Davitt e-Zine with our compliments.
