INTERNATIONAL. Welcome to The Moodie Davitt e-Zine, in which we take a first-hand look inside the world’s biggest duty free Arrivals store.

Heinemann-led Travel Retail Norway opened its new 3,500sq m store at Oslo Airport today, as part of an ambitious overhaul of Norway’s main gateway. The store presents an offering which combines old favourites and a plethora of new brands and products.

“We are now able to have more products, more space for the customers, bigger walkways and more cash tills – it’s a really big step for us,” says Travel Retail Norway Managing Director Håkon Fjeld-Hansen.

Also in this issue we look at how Helsinki Airport operator Finavia has captured the concept of Sense of Place for Chinese travellers with the help of contemporary artist Pan Jianfeng. He has used modern calligraphy techniques to create a stunning range of posters and artworks that capture Finland’s culture and tradition.

We also take our regular look at the industry’s best new launches, campaigns, activations and openings. This issue features travel-inspired cocktails, a playful Pez store and a strong duo of fragrances.

In The Foodie Report, Charlotte Christiansen, best-known for her former role in transforming the food & beverage offer at London Gatwick Airport, asks whether established chains can still be cool, and assesses the steps they can take to keep up with newer brands.

We also get the views of F&B operators on media claims that airports in the UK are acting irresponsibly in not controlling the alcohol consumption levels of passengers who later cause disruption on planes.

Please enjoy this dual edition of The Moodie Davitt e-Zine and The Foodie Report with our compliments.
