The Lakes Distillery’s British blended whisky The ONE sets sail on Brittany Ferries

UK/EUROPE. The Lakes Distillery’s British blended whisky The ONE set sail on Brittany Ferries for the first time this week.

The first ships from the ferry company’s fleet to take The ONE on board were Armorique, Mont St Michel and Pont Aven. The product will be available on nine routes in total, including Plymouth, Poole and Portsmouth, which travel to European destinations such as Roscoff, Cherbourg, Saint-Malo, Caen, Cork and Santander.

This new partnership will give Brittany passengers an opportunity to sample and buy the newly-branded 70cl bottles of The ONE.

The Lakes Distillery Chairman Nigel Mills commented: “As a leader of the growing English whisky industry we are in a prime position to export our products.

“To date we have successfully launched our British blended whisky, The One, to Taiwan, one of the world’s largest consumers of whisky. This is an important milestone on our journey as we start to leave a significant footprint on the world spirits market.”

Brittany Ferries Purchasing and Product Manager Beatrice Esterle added: “We are proud to add The ONE to the wide range of whiskies we offer in our shops.

“Our passengers will have the opportunity to discover The ONE through tastings organised by our valued sales consultants – many of them being real experts in whiskies.”

“We aim to continue to export to target markets such as France, South Africa and Canada as we fly the flag for British craft spirits”

The Lakes Distillery’s products will also soon appear in airports via World Duty Free stores, with The ONE and The Lakes Gin set to be marketed globally.

The distillery is located in The Lake District in the north-west of England and it is the largest whisky distillery in the country. It produces a range of spirits and will unveil the Lakes Single Malt in 2018.

Mills added: “As of last week, we have successfully shipped our first order of The One, The Lakes Gin, The Lakes Vodka and The Lakes Gin Explorer to Australia where we will be listed in up to nine key airports in Australia and New Zealand.

“As we move towards releasing The Lakes Malt in 2018 we aim to continue to export to target markets such as France, South Africa and Canada as we fly the flag for British craft spirits.”
