‘The Golden Ticket’ – Mumbai Duty Free launches high-profile shopper campaign

INDIA. Mumbai Duty Free last month launched ‘The Golden Ticket’ campaign, offering shoppers the chance to win gift vouchers worth INR500,000 (US$6,000) each week for 12 weeks, with a grand prize of 1kg in gold. The promotion runs until 28 February.

The opportunity to win is open to all passengers travelling through Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Terminal 2.

Customers can win lucky draw coupons when they spend above INR6,000 (US$73), with the number of coupons doubling if the payment is made using a Visa card. Visa is Mumbai Duty Free’s strategic partner for the campaign.

The filled coupons are submitted for each weekly draw for the gift vouchers and also entered for the grand prize. The draw for the 1kg of gold will be conducted at the end of the campaign.

The first weekly draw took place on 16 December. The vouchers can be redeemed at Mumbai Duty Free until 31 December 2023.

Mumbai Duty Free Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships Amit Butani said: “2022 has been a really exciting year for us. The number of travellers at Mumbai is almost back to pre-COVID numbers, and we find that there is a dramatic increase in sales at Mumbai Duty Free as a result.

“We thought it was important to show our appreciation towards the customers, and what better way than to do it with gold? Gold has been considered a status symbol denoting power and prosperity in India right from the time of kings and queens. It was also important that our participants receive weekly awards in addition to the grand prize.”

Mumbai Duty Free said that based on the success of previous campaigns, it expected ‘The Golden Ticket’ to be a “tremendous success” and hailed the “great response” to date from travellers.

Mumbai Duty Free is a division of Mumbai Travel Retail Private Limited. As reported, the company reached a new monthly milestone in December: 100 Crore Rupees or around US$12 million in sales. ✈
