The Glenlivet partners with DFS for special Winchester Collection release

The Glenlivet Winchester Collection will showcase three rare and precious 50-year-old single malt Scotch whiskies at DFS Masters of Wine and Spirits later this month. As reported, the Singapore event on 23-24 March will bring together 140 rare and fine whiskies, wines, Cognacs and Champagnes from around the world under one roof.

The limited offering will include the Winchester Collection Vintage 1964, Winchester Collection Vintage 1966 and Winchester Collection Vintage 1967. This is the first time that single malts of this age expression have been available to buy together, as a trio. The collection carries a recommended price of S$101,250 for the full set.

Just 100 bottles of each variant are available worldwide (and 150 bottles of the newest 1967 Vintage). With this rarity, brand owner Pernod Ricard said that collection will “offer serious collectors and whisky enthusiasts alike the unique opportunity to own one of the most prestigious and rare malt whisky collections in the world.”

Tasting notes

Pernod Ricard said the 1964 Vintage releases aromas of fruity pear and peach nectar, and carries flavours of ripe pears and oranges, black cherries and smooth creamy toffee.

The 1966 Vintage combines soft fruits, sweet treacle and juicy orange flavours, intermingled with cinnamon and liquorice, adding a layer of spice, it said.

The 1967 Vintage features fondant orange and milk chocolate flavours, with rich, smooth and sweet tones from the sherry cask. This edition has packaging created in collaboration with Elle Decoration Magazine Designer of the Year, Bethan Gray.
