The Estée Lauder Companies sets up Hainan base

CHINA. In an important move that underlines its belief in the future of the Hainan offshore duty free market, The Estée Lauder Companies has registered and established Estée Lauder Travel Retail Service (Hainan) Co in the Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

The procedure was concluded on 15 December with support from the Hainan International Economic Development Bureau (Hainan IEDB) and various other government departments.

Hainan IEDB said: “This indicates that multinational companies are very optimistic about the Chinese market and the development prospects of the Hainan Free Trade Port, and they are paying more and more attention to Hainan.

“The Hainan Free Trade Port means a higher degree and higher level of opening up, and it is becoming an important market for major companies around the world.”

On 24 November, Governor Feng Fei met with The Estée Lauder Companies President Commercial, Travel Retail Worldwide Javier Simon and colleagues.
