TFWA Asia Pacific set for 9-13 May 2021

ASIA PACIFIC. Tax Free World Association (TFWA) has named 9-13 May as the provisional dates for its Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference in 2021. This year’s event in Singapore was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The dates were announced followed a survey of members, most of whom signalled a preference for retaining the May timing of the event.

The return of TFWA Asia Pacific in 2021, subject to eased travel restrictions, will be welcomed by potential exhibitors and visitors

In May, TFWA announced the cancellation of the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference, scheduled for 27 September to 2 October, amid the uncertainty caused by the crisis. Earlier it had postponed its China’s Century Conference planned for March 2021 until one year later.

As reported, the association is planning a virtual event on 1-3 December dedicated to the recovery of China’s duty free and travel retail sector. ‘China Reborn’ is part of a series of online events being organised by TFWA during the second half of 2020, beginning with a Sustainability in Travel Retail webinar that took place this morning.

These are among several virtual travel retail events planned for the second half of 2020. On 27 March, The Moodie Davitt Report announced the Virtual Travel Retail Expo (now set for 12-16 October), which is being supported by a stellar line-up of exhibiting brands and retailers, including Diamond Partners China Duty Free Group, The SEVA Group and Qatar Duty Free. On 12 May, publishing house Travel Retail Business announced its own event, TRMarketplace, which will take place from 28 September until 2 October.
