“Tasting the best of New Zealand and the world” – Auckland Airport redefines its food & beverage offer

“We’re giving customers what they have long desired, an increased variety of the best of New Zealand tastes and flavours alongside more international cuisines” – Richard Barker

NEW ZEALAND. Auckland Airport is adding 21 new food & beverage outlets and redeveloping six others in an ambitious expansion of its dining offer.

The outlets will be managed by five leading F&B operators: Emirates Leisure Retail; Barworks Hospitality Group; Delaware North Companies, in partnership with the Britomart Hospitality Group; HMSHost; and Kiwi Discovery.

The outlets will be opened on a phased basis beginning next month.

Auckland Airport General Manager Retail and Commercial Richard Barker said: “Our new line-up of food & beverage outlets will provide travellers with an outstanding selection of high-quality New Zealand and international dining options.

“There will be 370 new management, operations and retail roles which will be responsible for ensuring there is an excellent level of customer service for the millions of passengers that travel through Auckland Airport each year.”

Barker continued: “We’re also giving customers what they have long desired, which is an increased variety of the best of New Zealand tastes and flavours alongside more international cuisines, all set in a modern and vibrant dining environment. There will be something for everyone, with a choice of in-terminal restaurants, casual dining, fast food and grab-and-go outlets.”

Popular New Zealand eateries Better Burger, Mexico, Orleans Chicken and Waffles and Al Brown’s Best Ugly Bagels will open in the international terminal. The line-up will also include a wide range of New Zealand-themed bars and restaurants, including Glamp Grounds – an innovative bar and eatery with play areas for children, designed as an iconic Kiwi outdoor campground.

They will be joined by Tea Garden, a high-tea concept developed for Auckland Airport by tea company Dilmah and celebrity chef Simon Gault; Oma, an artisan bakery and café fostered in collaboration with Auckland-based baker Isabel Pasch; and 400 Gradi, an Italian restaurant by Melbourne celebrity chef Johnny Di Francesco.

New Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese dining locations are also opening, reflecting the airport’s strong Asian traffic as well as the popularity of those cuisines.

“We want everyone to have a great food and beverage experience while they are at Auckland Airport, and today’s announcement will ensure travellers get to taste the very best of New Zealand and the world,” said Barker.

“This is yet another exciting stage in the implementation of our 30-year vision to build the airport of the future.”
