SINGAPORE. Lagardère Travel Retail Singapore and Godiva are staging a pioneering Chocolate Fashion Show at Changi Airport Terminal 2 to celebrate the launch of Godiva Gold Discovery.

The Chocolate Fashion Show, premiering tomorrow (20 January) and running until 28 February in T2’s transit area, presents three extraordinary dresses created by designer Anne-Sophie Cochevelou. These combine contemporary fashion with representations of Godiva’s signature chocolate boxes, including the Belgian chocolatier’s latest luxury collection, Gold Discovery*.

The event, a Trinity collaboration between Changi Airport Group, Lagardère Travel Retail Singapore and Godiva,  is a first for an airport. As reported, the new collection was also featured in a Chocolate Fashion Show held in collaboration with T Galleria by DFS in Guam last November.

“Visitors to Changi Airport can look forward to shopping for decadent chocolates and at the same time, be delighted by Godiva’s artistry and creativity,” Lagardère Travel Retail said.

The Tradition to Modernity Showpiece Dress is displayed artistically on a static mannequin that can be viewed from all angles by passengers. Classic Gold Collection boxes edge the hem, while the skirt is formed by triangular brown godets, and the bodice of Godiva Coeur-like lace. An array of new Gold Discovery boxes forms the collar, and imitation chocolates decorate the headpiece.

The Empress Dress, featuring bustles of Gold Discovery boxes and garlands of chocolates, adorns a model in a photo booth. This is designed to encourage shoppers – upon purchase of a box of Gold Discovery or two boxes of Gold Ballotin – to pose for free instant photos ‘wearing’ the dress. The Heart of the Collection Dress is decorated with Coeur Grand and Iconique gift boxes.

The stage is surrounded with displays of Godiva Gold Discovery, where a hostess engages with shoppers and offers samples during peak times.

Lagardère Travel Retail Singapore & Malaysia CEO Louis Dambrine said: “Our great partners Godiva and Changi Airport Group welcome Gold Discovery collection into our stores, with an initiative that is stylish and incredibly artistic. We aim to satisfy every traveller’s need and are committed to exceeding all expectations. To this end, we believe that the fashion presentation will let travellers discover and experience chocolate through a very different experience.”

“The Godiva dresses designed by Anne-Sophie Cochevelou are out of this world – and the most extraordinary creations you could expect to find in a travel retail store. We are thrilled and excited with the results and we are confident the shoppers will be equally amazed and delighted.”

Changi Airport Group Senior Vice President for Airside Concessions Teo Chew Hoon added: “We are happy to partner Lagardére and Godiva to stage this unique event at Changi Airport. This global travel retail concept exclusive reinforces Changi’s position as a world-class shopping destination, and injects novelty and freshness into Changi’s retail experience. The extraordinary Godiva creations are certain to delight and surprise our passengers.”

A voyage of discovery: Godiva goes for gold in its new luxury collection

Godiva Gold Discovery is a 28-piece collection of ganaches, pralines, mousses and caramels, including two new pieces. It is presented in a gold gift box embossed with the brand’s signature ‘G’ and the Lady Godiva emblem. The box is tied with a gold satin ribbon and decorated with a refined hangtag.

The ganaches come in flavours of passion fruit & pink pepper, white chocolate & bourbon vanilla, intense coffee, raspberry rose, made from 85% dark chocolate. Chocolate caramel and salted caramel also feature.

The elderberry mousse and the lychee strawberry mousse in the collection are joined by a new Mexican-origin chocolate mousse.

The pralines include a new pistachio praline, which sits alongside the signature hazelnut pieces in white and milk chocolate. Others in the line-up include almond praline with whole roasted almond, the hazelnut praline with caramelised macadamia nuts, and a caramelised pecan praline.

Godiva Gold Discovery retails at SO Chocolate and The Chocolatier shops in T2 for S$102.20 (US$77.50)
