Tao Zhang takes over L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific leadership as Emmanuel Goulin assumes key Italian role

A much-respected figure among retailers, peers and colleagues, Emmanuel Goulin was a driving force in L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific’s digital and sustainable transformation

ASIA PACIFIC. L’Oréal today announced two key senior management changes. Emmanuel Goulin, the hugely respected Managing Director of L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific, has been appointed Deputy Country General Manager of L’Oréal Italy in charge of the Luxe Division. He succeeds Luca Guillot Boschetti.

Tao Zhang, currently L’Oréal Luxe Travel Retail Asia Pacific Managing Director, replaces Goulin.

Goulin was appointed L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific Managing Director in 2016, where his strong and modern leadership has accelerated business growth over the last five years.

Under his tenure, L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific developed into an agile, efficient and customer-centric organisation, the French beauty group noted. Over the last 18 months, he accelerated several digital and sustainable transformation projects.

Goulin joined L’Oréal Group 20 years ago, beginning his career at Lancôme before joining the Biotherm International team. He became part of the Travel Retail Europe division in 2005 and worked as Travel Retail Asia Pacific Division Manager between 2008 and 2010.

He was also General Manager of Shu Uemura International for two years, before his appointment as General Manager Fragrance Division France for a further four.

Zhang’s keen understanding of Asia Pacific travellers and international background will be key assets to driving the growth of L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific

“I would like to thank Emmanuel Goulin and express my gratitude for his courage, trust and professionalism during the recent Covid crisis,” commented L’Oréal Travel Retail Managing Director Vincent Boinay.

“Over the past 5 years, his unparalleled fighting spirit and his leadership have largely contributed to L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific growth during all these years. I wish him great success in his new role.”

Zhang joined L’Oréal Group in 2000, beginning her career at L’Oréal Luxe China where she was promoted from Management Trainee to Brand General Manager of Helena Rubinstein and Giorgio Armani in China.

Afterwards, Zhang took charge of Lancôme International’s retail and business development in Paris before becoming Deputy General Manager for YSL.

Described as a strong and charismatic leader, Zhang joined the L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific team five years ago as Lancôme General Manager. In 2020, she was promoted to the role of L’Oréal Luxe Travel Retail Asia Pacific Managing Director.

With her track record of  business success, her travel retail brands have become models of retail excellence and have pioneered numerous consumer-centric online and offline activations, the group said.

Boinay added, “I am very pleased to welcome Tao Zhang as Managing Director at L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific. This change reflects a spirit of great continuity, and I am confident that Tao will bring her high level of expertise, professional and personal qualities, deep knowledge of the Travel Retail business and Asian customers. She will, with her talented team, keep on elevating our mission: ‘beauty for all travellers’ with our undisputed and strong portfolio of brands.”
