Takamaka Rum opens first travel retail flagship in Seychelles International Airport

The 330sq m space features a bar area with standing and seated tables that invite travellers to sample Takamaka Rum cocktails

SEYCHELLES. Takamaka Rum opens its first travel retail flagship boutique in Seychelles International Airport.

The 330sq m space was designed to capture the spirit and warmth of the Seychellois rum and offers a final taste of Seychelles as guests fly out of the airport. It is located in the first floor of the Departures Area.

The boutique was designed by creative agency Pearlfisher, who also recently refreshed Takamaka Rum’s brand identity and packaging.

The store combines natural tropical elements, driftwood-inspired flooring, colours from the Seychelles flag and Takamaka Rum’s brand identity. Inspired by the home of Takamaka Rum, the Trois Freres Distillery, the space features copper stills and copper pipe detailing with central tables made from reclaimed ex-rum barrels.

The walls tell the story of the distillery and its connection to the islands. They also feature a special brand moment which invites travellers to take one final photo during their Seychelles holiday. In addition, seated and standing areas are dotted around the space, so guests can enjoy Takamaka Rum via a selection of classic and creative cocktails.

Takamaka Rum’s full range is on display, including its new premium The St Andre collection. Travel retail-exclusive merchandise and gifts with purchase are also available in the store.

“For the last twenty years, our goal has been to create rums that offer a taste of the Seychelles to people around the world, and our achievements in the global travel retail space have shown us just how well received this is,” commented Takamaka Rum Co-Founder Richard d’Offay.

“Our regional travel retail business has gone strength to strength as we continue to grow both our footprint and volumes that reflect the strong regional travel numbers. At home in the Seychelles, 2022 has seen a resurgence of travellers and therefore this was the perfect time to invest in our very first owned travel retail outlet.”

Seychelles International Airport General Manager for Commercial Florence Mangano added, “As we continue to honour our jubilee celebrations this year, the Takamaka outlet is a unique addition to the commercial offerings at Seychelles International Airport, in that it guarantees an authentic guest experience, like no other.

“Our customers will now have the opportunity to savour an array of beverages, whilst they immerse themselves in the comfort and richness of the Takamaka rum tradition and depart with a souvenir gift and wonderful memories of their time in the Seychelles.”

Takamaka Rum was founded by two brothers more than 20 years ago. The family-owned company is the number one spirits brand in the Seychelles. Takamaka Rum’s portfolio of spirits offer diverse flavours that capture the spirit of its tropical island home.
