Sunil Tuli receives prestigious award as one of the industry’s ‘Most Influential Leaders’

INDIA/HONG KONG. King Power Group (Hong Kong) Group Chief Executive Officer Sunil Tuli has been presented with a prestigious leadership award.

The travel retail industry veteran was recognised as being among the ‘Most Influential Leaders’ at the Global MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) and Luxury Travel Congress Awards, held at the Taj Lands End hotel in Mumbai, India yesterday (12 February).

Tuli said he was “delighted and honoured” to be presented with the award, which recognises his service to the industry.

Tuli began his career in the duty free industry in 1984 at the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC). He was responsible for the duty free stores at New Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Madras and Trivandrum airports.

In 1990 he was appointed by Swiss duty free group Weitnauer (now Dufry) to run its joint venture in Singapore, Scotts Weitnauer. As General Manager, Sunil was also responsible for Travellers Duty Free and Sincere Watch Duty Free.

In 1995, he was made Managing Director of Weitnauer Singapore, overseeing the expansion of the company in Asia, and was appointed Chief Operating Officer for Asia Pacific and the Middle East before leaving in 2002 to join King Power Group (Hong Kong) as Managing Director Travel Retail and Duty Free.

At the end of 2019, he was promoted to the position of Group Chief Executive Officer, and is now responsible for other group companies alongside the travel retail business.

Tuli is also a founder member of the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA), and served for six years as president. He currently sits on the APTRA board.
