SSP to introduce three local F&B concepts after Gold Coast Airport contract win

AUSTRALIA. Travel restaurateur SSP Group has grown its Australian footprint to six airports after sealing a new food & beverage contract at Gold Coast Airport. Three popular local F&B brands will be introduced in the coming weeks.

The outlets are Liv-Eat, a quick service concept focused on healthy eating; Roll’d, offering authentic Vietnamese dishes including bánh mi and pho; and Red Rooster, Australia’s second largest chicken quick service restaurant.

Liv-eat was founded in Australia in 2006 by three friends with a shared passion for healthy eating

SSP said these concepts are targeted at Gold Coast Airport’s primary demographic of domestic visitors.

The new deal means that SSP will now operate at two locations in Queensland. Its initial foray into the State was with an international food hall and other F&B concepts at Brisbane Airport.

Vietnamese food specialist Roll’d has more opened more than 100 outlets across Australia

Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton said: “We appreciated that SSP came to us with a brand mix that will appeal to our customers and fits well within the existing food & beverage offering at the airport.

“The opening of these news stores signals a return to full capacity across our commercial tenancies after a number closed due to COVID-19 impacts.”

Red Rooster is an Australian fast food restaurant chain founded in 1972, specialising in roast chicken, chicken burgers and fried chicken

SSP Asia Pacific CEO Mark Angela said: “This is another great win for SSP, providing us with an excellent opportunity to expand our operations in Australia and tap into the growing domestic traveller market at Gold Coast Airport.”

He added: “We have worked hard with our clients at Gold Coast to develop the right brand mix that will really resonate with passengers, appealing to local travellers as well as international visitors looking for an authentic taste of Australia’s diverse culinary scene.”

Gold Coast Airport, which welcomed about 6.4 million passengers in 2019, is the gateway to Gold Coast – Australia’s sixth largest city – and the northern New South Wales region.
