SSP opens first Starbucks at Athens International Airport

GREECE. Leading travel restaurateur SSP has opened the first Starbucks at Athens International Airport and the first to be run by SSP in Greece.

The unit opened landside on 19 December and offers “stunning views across the runway”, according to SSP. This is Starbucks’ 29th store in the country, since the coffee chain opened there in 2002.

“We are delighted to bring Starbucks to Athens International Airport,” said Mark Angela, CCO of SSP Group and CEO of SSP EEME. “Starbucks is a brand loved by customers in Greece as it is across the globe. The store will be a great new addition to the existing offer at the airport, complementing the other SSP outlets, including our recently opened Eat Greek restaurant, which is setting new standards for dining.”

SSP has a long-term partnership with Starbucks, with stores in 15 markets worldwide. “Opening in Greece demonstrates our commitment to bring the Starbucks experience to more customers around the world,” said Angela.
