SSP Group to open Burger King restaurant at Edinburgh Airport

UK. SSP Group is to open a Burger King restaurant at Edinburgh Airport as part of an expansion of food & beverage options at the Scottish hub.

The unit will be opened later this year in the departures area. In a first for the UK market, it will feature a children’s interactive wall to keep youngsters entertained.

Self-service kiosks will enable customers to order on digital screens.

The Edinburgh Airport unit will be SSP’s 30th Burger King restaurant to launch in the UK.

The Burger King opening follows the recent additions of Pret A Manger, BrewDog and Barburrito to the food & beverage options at Edinburgh Airport.

SSP Group already operates M&S Simply Food and Starbucks units at the airport, but the Burger King outlet will be its first airside location.

“One of the brands passengers have continuously mentioned they want to see at Edinburgh Airport is Burger King so we’ve listened and are delighted to deliver that for them,” said Edinburgh Airport Director of Retail and Property Gail Taylor.

“Quality and variety are key considerations for us when we look at our food & beverage options and we’re always looking to offer greater choice, something which our new terminal expansion will allow us to do and we look forward to confirming more new outlets soon.”

SSP UK & Ireland CEO Simon Smith commented: “We’re delighted to announce the opening of our first Burger King unit at Edinburgh Airport, which will offer greater choice and service to both local and international travellers.

“This is our 30th Burger King restaurant to launch in the UK, and reflects our ongoing commitment to the brand and to providing our customers with the best offers from the most renowned names in food & beverage.”
