SSP gives Düsseldorf Airport passengers the chance to taste the city’s coffee culture

GERMANY. SSP Group has opened steam-punk styled coffee concept Bazzar Caffè at Düsseldorf Airport.

The 200sq m outlet has seating for 84 people and is located in departure lounge C. Bazzar Caffè’s interior design blends retro and futuristic elements, SSP said.

Tailor-made: The Düsseldorf Airport Bazzar Caffè concept features a bespoke design.

Bazzar Caffè was founded by Aydin Kirici in 1996, and helped pioneer coffee culture in Düsseldorf, according to SSP.

The food menu at the Düsseldorf Airport outlet features a selection of breakfast options, as well cakes, tapas and salads (available daily from 4am to 9pm).

Bazzar-themed merchandise is available to purchase from an adjacent retail store.

“This concept has been exclusively designed from the ground up for passengers at Düsseldorf Airport,” said Aydin Kirici. “All the furniture is tailor-made and each element is bespoke. Italy is famous for the highest level of espresso coffee culture, and we are continuing this tradition with this latest venture.”

Distinctive look: Bazzar Caffè’s interior design blends retro and futuristic elements.

With the addition of Bazzar Caffè, SSP now operates 11 restaurants and food outlets at Düsseldorf Airport, as well as the on-site conference centre DUSconference plus.

“High-quality products and outstanding culinary concepts are key criteria when selecting our franchise partners, and Bazzar Caffè features these very characteristics,” commented SSP DACH region Director Business Development & Properties Jan Kamp.

“The brand has achieved an excellent reputation for its roasted coffee in Düsseldorf, and the launch of a local outlet at Düsseldorf Airport will help build closer connections between the airport and the city centre’s exciting culinary scene.”

Closer connection: The outlet “will give visitors a real taste of Düsseldorf coffee culture”, according to the airport.

Düsseldorf Airport Head of Commercial Operations Pia Martina Klauck said: “At our airport, we seek a mix of internationally well-known brands and regional, individual concepts, so we are delighted to open Bazzar Caffè in cooperation with SSP.

“Everyone involved in the project was passionate about developing this highly innovative outlet, which will give visitors a real taste of Düsseldorf coffee culture.”
