SSP captures ten-store contract at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport

SPAIN. SSP Group has won an eight-year contract to open ten food & beverage units at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport.

The contract, which is valued at €17 million a year, will see the opening of a number of local and international brands, including Starbucks, SOHO Coffee Co., Burger King, O’Learys and Spanish charcuterie specialist Enrique Tomás. SSP will be taking over existing sites as well as opening new locations.

“We are delighted to have secured these units in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport,” said SSP Spain Director General Blanca Ripoll. “This new contract win reaffirms SSP’s position as a leading restaurant operator in the travel market in the Canary Islands with a presence in Tenerife, Lanzarote and Las Palmas. The hospitality industry is currently very buoyant in Spain. Branded restaurant chains are, in particular, strong generators of wealth and employment in the country.”

SOHO Coffee Co widens its presence at European airports with the new Las Palmas outlet.

Enrique Tomás and O’Learys Bar & Restaurant will be located in the food court. There will be two SOHO Coffee Co. units, one in the north check-in area and the other in the south pier. These are set to open later this year and in 2019. Two Burger King units (in the south and north piers) and a Starbucks (located airside near the boarding gates) are already trading.

Catalan businessman Enrique Tomás began his business with a mission to offer high-quality Iberian hams and sausages. His brand currently has three concepts – a retail store, a tasting bar and a premium bar concept called Origins. It has a presence at 81 locations across the world, including an outlet at Madrid Airport.
