SriLankan Airlines calls inflight duty free tender

SRI LANKA. SriLankan Airlines has called a tender to operate a five-year inflight duty free concession.

The contract will start on 1 April 2017. Bids will be accepted until 13.00 Sri Lankan time on 15 November.

In recent years the concession has been run by Phoenix Ventures (now Duty Free Partners).

The new inflight supplier is expected to have a minimum three years’ experience in a similar role. Bidders will need to provide a profile of their company, audited financial statements for the past three years, and references.

They will also be required to provide necessary training to cabin crew, and provide hand-held computer sets to carry out transactions.

The successful bidder should be able to supply 130 products in total every six months from the start of the contract across the following categories:

  • Ladies’ Eau de Parfum – Minimum of ten items
  • Ladies’ Eau de Toilette – Minimum of eight items
  • Men’s Eau de Toilette – Minimum of ten items
  • Jewellery – Minimum of six items
  • Travel Essentials – Minimum of six items
  • Coffrets – Minimum of six items
  • Lipsticks – Minimum of five items
  • Make-up Kits – Minimum of six items
  • Skincare – Minimum of seven items
  • Timepieces – Minimum of five items
  • Souvenirs – Minimum of seven items
  • Liquor – Minimum of six items
  • Tobacco – Minimum of four items

Among other requirements, the supplier is required to declare a commitment to ethical manufacturing practices.
