Speyburn to launch travel retail-exclusive 16yo in Cannes

International Beverage is releasing a new 16yo travel retail-exclusive expression of its Speyburn single malt whisky.

It will be unveiled at the upcoming 2018 TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (Marine Village S2/S3).

It follows the successful introduction of two travel retail-exclusives – Speyburn Hopkins Reserve and Speyburn 10yo – earlier this year.

The whisky is matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and is available in one-litre bottles. Speyburn 16yo has an ABV of 43% and an RRP of €72.00/US$85.00.

Speyburn 16yo: “For travellers just embarking on their single malt journey to whisky aficionados looking to add to their collection.”

International Beverage Global Travel Retail Director James Bateman said: “International Beverage views travel retail as a distinct global market, and it is important to us to support that channel with exclusives such as this.

“Single malt Scotch whisky continues to gain upward sales momentum around the world, and the travel retail platform is the perfect place to reach anyone interested in these whiskies – from travellers just embarking on their single malt journey to whisky aficionados looking to add to their collection.”

International Beverage added that Caorunn Gin Master’s Cut, which has been offered exclusively through World Duty Free throughout the UK, will be released globally at the TFWA event.

The company also announced that Old Pulteney, ‘The Maritime Malt’, will have its global travel retail launch in Cannes.

On the palate: Speyburn 16yo is described by its producer as medium bodied with hints of vanilla, honey and chocolate. Its sweet finish has a hint of oaky spice. On the nose, there are fruit aromas, accompanied by creamy vanilla and toffee notes, with a touch of liquorice.
