SKYdeals strikes agreement with HOP! to offer online shopping on French routes

FRANCE. SKYdeals is launching its ‘Inflight Shoppertainment’ system on short-haul flights in France with airline partner HOP!, Air France’s short-haul subsidiary. The airline will offer its passengers free access to e-commerce platform SKYdeals on laptop, tablet or smartphone from January 2019. SKYdeals will be deployed on major French air routes, connecting Paris Orly Airport to Bordeaux, Marseille, Montpellier, Nice and Toulouse.

As reported, the SKYdeals platform specialises in inflight services through temporary sales of exclusive, targeted and discounted products and services via onboard Wi-Fi. Travellers also have the opportunity to book a taxi, hotel, restaurant or excursion from their seat.

Advances in air connectivity allow passengers to shop online with SKYdeals while inflight.

SKYdeals said the platform allows brands, destination services and duty free retailers to promote limited and personalised deals to passengers while they are onboard.

During the flight, all passengers connected to Wi-Fi will have access to a catalogue of “last minute” offers on services – such as activities, entertainment, hotels and airport transfers – depending on their destination. There will also be a selection of products, including cosmetics, fashion and jewellery available at preferential rates, with up to -50% discounts, according to SKYdeals.

Orders placed onboard will be delivered at home or downloadable with e-coupons for services. In addition, a Click & Collect service will be available in airport shops or in lockers located in baggage delivery rooms.

Passengers will also receive ‘fly over offers’, only available when flying over specific areas, auction sales, group sales and flash sales.

HOP! will offer SKYdeals on its flights between Paris Orly and major French cities.

SKYdeals CEO and Co-founder Julien Sivan said: “We are excited to deploy SKYdeals on HOP! lines. Partnering with a French company is an important step in our development and the realisation of our project. We are convinced that short-haul lines are a great opportunity for Inflight Shoppertainment.

“This deployment is the first of many to come. Before the end of the year, we will announce major deployments on long and medium-haul.’’
