Single-minded proposition: Loch Lomond and Muscat Duty Free unveil exclusive Inchmurrin malt

Loch Lomond Whiskies has launched a 10yo Loch Lomond Inchmurrin Single Cask Scotch whisky, available exclusively with Muscat Duty Free at Muscat International Airport.

The expression, limited to 268 bottles, was developed to mark the opening of the retailer’s store at the airport’s new terminal earlier this year. The terminal features 6,200sq m of retail space, almost three times the size of the previous shopping area.

That’s what you call a genuine limited edition. Just 268 bottles of Inchmurrin Single Cask are available, all of them exclusive to Muscat Duty Free.

The non-chill filtered single malt was distilled in  Loch Lomond Distillery’s straight neck pot stills in January 2008. It was matured in a re-charred American hogshead cask before being bottled at cask strength (54.4% ABV) in February this year.

“Single cask bottlings are very special and only undertaken with select partners. Muscat Duty Free now has something unique to offer its customers.” – Loch Lomond Group Travel Managing Director of Global Travel Retail André de Almeida

On the nose, the Loch Lomond Inchmurrin Single Cask is described as fruity and sweet with a hint of oak spice. The palate offers layers of brown sugar, peach and pear, with a lemon zestiness giving way to a ginger and cinnamon finish.

Muscat Duty Free’s impressive new store, opened in March, embraces 6,200sq m of shopping space, almost three times the area within the old terminal.

Loch Lomond Group Travel Managing Director of Global Travel Retail André de Almeida said: “Single cask bottlings are very special and only undertaken with select partners. Muscat Duty Free now has something unique to offer its customers.”

Muscat Duty Free General Manager Martin Mullen commented: “We were honoured to have the Inchmurrin Single Cask as an exclusive bottling for our new shops at Muscat International Airport.

“It has been received very well and we are planning to continue this partnership with Loch Lomond so that we can deliver quality exclusive products for our customers.”

The store features good visibility and access, with many neat design touches.
