Singapore Airlines and DFASS partner with Ctrip for duty free pre-ordering

SINGAPORE/CHINA. Singapore Airlines, Ctrip and DFASS have entered into an alliance involving the pre-ordering of inflight duty free products.

Airline customers who book their flights through Chinese travel agency Ctrip will be able to purchase duty free goods from the KrisShop retail store – for which DFASS is the inflight retail provider – for collection onboard.

It is the first time an inflight programme has worked with Ctrip in this way, the partners said.

Ctrip customers will also benefit from a -10% discount when they purchase through Ctrip Global Shopping

Inflight products can be pre-ordered for both inbound and outbound Chinese flights operated by Singapore Airlines and SilkAir.

Singapore Airlines will curate and offer KrisShop merchandise on the Ctrip Global Shopping platform. Customers can order their desired product up to 72 hours before their flight departure. Ctrip customers will also benefit from a -10% discount when they purchase through Ctrip Global Shopping.

“Singapore Airlines KrisShop is pleased to embark on this first-of-its-kind partnership with Ctrip to provide a one-stop duty free shopping option to our customers,” commented Singapore Airlines Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing Campbell Wilson.

“Ctrip has an extensive reach not just in the Chinese market where they are a leader in online travel, but is also extending its global reach. Through this collaboration, Singapore Airlines will be able to ride on Ctrip’s expertise in e-commence and provide a more seamless and fuss-free online booking experience for our customers.”

Ctrip Senior Vice President and Ctrip Global Shopping CEO Christine Zhang said: “Ctrip Global Shopping is a frequently-visited premium platform for Chinese outbound tourists, which is complementary with Singapore Airlines.

“In future collaborations, we will fully leverage the advancement of technology, coupled with our big user base to set up an effective platform to facilitate the communication between Singapore Airlines and its consumers so as to further improve their travel experience.”

In March, DFASS, SATS and Singapore Airlines agreed to establish a potentially game-changing joint venture to engage in omni-channel travel-related retail operations in Singapore.
