Shiseido Americas has completed the sale of bareMinerals, Buxom and Laura Mercier to AI Beauty Holdings, a company formed by investment firm Advent International.

The previously announced transaction is consistent with Shiseido’s ‘Win 2023 and Beyond’ strategy to prioritise its investments in the brands, categories and regions that best support its competitive positioning and global growth.

Shiseido Americas President & CEO and Global M&A Leader Ron Gee said: “Today’s announcement represents another step in our strategy to become a leading personal beauty wellness company. Shiseido remains focused on making strategic investments across the portfolio and exploring potential opportunities that fit into our premium skin beauty and global growth objectives.”

“We are strong believers in the bareMinerals, Buxom and Laura Mercier brands,” said Tricia Glynn, a Managing Director at Advent, when the deal was announced in August. “They are clear leaders in prestige beauty and are widely recognised for their quality, authenticity, and innovation, with differentiated products and devoted customers. We are excited to partner with Pascal as CEO of the new company to accelerate the growth of these brands by continuing to develop innovative products, expanding into new categories and geographies, and enhancing digital engagement with customers.”
