Shinsegae Duty Free launches cross-border ecommerce platform

SOUTH KOREA. Shinsegae Duty Free yesterday (11 July) launched a cross-border ecommerce platform (https://www.ssgdfs.com/cn/odp/initOdpMain) specialising in Korean duty free products that can be bought by foreign shoppers without having to visit the country.

The platform is in line with the Korean government’s decision earlier this year to allow such projects in order to boost the country’s stricken duty free sector.

Effective 1 July, foreign customers can purchase Korean duty free products online without visiting the Republic, a new channel that has also been embraced by Lotte Duty Free, The Shilla Duty Free and Hyundai Department Store Duty Free.

‘Direct mail area – Buy duty free items without leaving home’ proclaims the message to foreign shoppers

Such cross-border programmes are also seen as a good way to boost global awareness and sales of K-brand products,

Express Mail Service using Cainiao Network, Alibaba’s logistics subsidiary, ensures that the duty free items get to consumers quickly and securely

Shinsegae Duty-Free Online Mall offers two languages, Korean and Chinese. The online and app platform features 3,000 Korean products across K-beauty, fashion, and health functional foods, which are popular categories among Chinese customers.
