Shining a light on eyewear: Sunglasses Workshop & Awards set for 1 October in Cannes

INTERNATIONAL. Leading brand owners in the travel retail eyewear category have announced details of the 11th Sunglasses Workshop & Awards, which will take place on 1 October during the TFWA World Exhibition.

The event, which is jointly organised by De Rigo, Essilor, Kering Eyewear, Luxottica Group, Marchon, Marcolin, Maui Jim and Safilo, has become a staple of the Cannes calendar and will this year be held at new venue Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic.

The invite-only event will open with a workshop on the sunglasses category featuring insight from several influential executives before an awards ceremony honouring the best of the category takes place.

This year’s awards features two new categories to recognise the strong marketing activity taking place in sunglasses in travel retail. The eight categories this year are:

  1. Best New Sunglasses Environment
  2. Best Dedicated Sunglasses Sales Team
  3. Best Digital Initiative for the Sunglasses Category
  4. Best Marketing Activity: On-Airport
  5. Best Marketing Activity: Off-Airport
  6. Best Off-Airport Sunglasses Retailer
  7. Sunglasses Retailer of the Year (under US$2 billion)
  8. Sunglasses Retailer of the Year (over US$2 billion)

Entries are now open and the deadline is 6 September. Entries will then be judged by a panel comprising:
