Schiphol Airport’s Exquisite boutique sells limited-edition Cohiba humidor for €379,000

NETHERLANDS. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol cigar and high-end spirits specialist Exquisite has sold a limited-edition Cohiba 50 Aniversario Humidor, containing 50 numbered Habanos cigars, for €379,000.

The boutique is operated by Schiphol Airport Retail, a joint venture between Gebr Heinemann and the Royal Schiphol Group. Exquisite said the humidor was purchased by an overseas national.

The Exquisite boutique at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol showcased the limited-edition Cohiba humidor, ultimately drawing the interest of an international traveller and cigar aficionado

The humidor is part of a special edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the renowned Cuban cigar brand Cohiba. It is described as a “unique and unrepeatable” series of just 50 humidors.

The vitola Cohiba 50 Aniversario is the first in the Habanos portfolio with a 60mm ring gauge.

“The humidor represents a perfect example of creating a powerful product that promotes innovation, luxury and distinctiveness in the travel retail environment” – Gebr. Heinemann Director Purchasing Liquor Tobacco Confectionery and Fine Food Rüdiger Stelkens

The humidor’s exclusive cabinet is lined with 24ct gold-covered Cuban tobacco. The wooden case includes Makassar ebony, sycamore and Guarea Cedrata, which is also known as Scented Guarea. The humidor offers a range of accessories including a travel humidor for five Habanos, a handmade leather cigar case and an ashtray made with the same marquetry technique used on the exterior and finished in fine Armenian obsidian.

The cabinet also contains a device that allows its owner to follow the temperature and humidity conditions in the humidor via smartphone or tablet.

Schiphol Airport Retail Managing Director Simon Asmus said: “All these details make this cabinet humidor a real piece of art, memorable and unique, for the brand’s most exclusive enthusiasts.

“Our customers know they can rely on the Exquisite store as a destination for the discovery of the world’s best and rarest cigars. The sale of the Cohiba 50 Aniversario Humidor underlines this fact.”
