INTERNATIONAL. The winners of the Travel Retail Superstars Awards, the second edition of an annual awards for travel retail employees across airport, airline, downtown store and cruise sectors, were named today in an online ceremony hosted by organiser The Moodie Davitt Report. The event was streamed on our home page and via a LinkedIn Live session.
The Awards placed the spotlight on those frontline and behind the scenes heroes and heroines who have helped kept our industry going throughout the continuing crisis over the past year, and as recovery has gained momentum.
Note: The Travel Retail Superstars Awards alongside sister programme the FAB Superstars & ESG Awards put a smile on many people’s faces. As a result, The Moodie Davitt Report is funding eight life-changing operations through Smile Train, one of our official charities, to put smiles back on the faces of some beautiful young children around the world.
For the awards, we asked employers to submit a written entry for each individual or team, addressing the impact made by the person or department through their actions, and how far they reached; how they measured success in terms of service or helped improve the business; and what made a particular staff member or team stand out.
Categories included Star Team, Star Individual, Star Story (Team or Individual), Innovation (Team or Individual) and Humanity, Leadership & Inspiration. Nominations were invited by region and by department: Shop Floor — Customer Facing, Logistics Warehouse, Back Office (Marketing, IT, Commercial and Procurement) to cover as broad a spectrum of staff as possible.

As at the inaugural event in 2021, the awards were judged by an expert committee. Spark Group of Companies CEO & Founder Heidi Van Roon and Flash Global Logistics Global Director of People & Culture Marcus Griffin returned as judges, and were joined by Mark Banchansky, Head of Transformation, Transformation Programme Office at Primark.
