Salt Lake City Airport reveals dining and retail partners for latest phase of expansion

USA. Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) has contracts to key partners to manage restaurants and retail shops in Phase 2 of its US$4.1 billion redevelopment programme.

The new offer, which is scheduled to open in Autumn 2023, will span local and national brands across 19 retail and restaurant units across 23,873sq ft. The project to renovate the airport is dubbed The New SLC.

The concessionaires selected are: HG SLC Retailers JV, HMSHost, Marshall Retail Group, OHM Concession Group, Paradies Lagardère, Millcreek Coffee Roasters, Minute Suites and SLC Hospitality Partners.

Among the new local and national dining concepts for Phase 2 are (from top) Vessel Kitchen, Red Rock Brewery, P.F. Chang’s, Protein Bar and Kitchen, Millcreek Coffee Roasters and Hugo Coffee

The F&B concepts include:

*Local coffee: Millcreek Coffee Roasters and Hugo Coffee

*Full-service restaurants (with alcohol service): Red Rock Brewery and P.F. Chang’s

*Local quick serve: Blue Iguana, Rockwell’s Ice Cream and Vessel Kitchen

*National quick serve: Auntie Anne’s, Burger King, Jimmy John’s and Wow Bao

The speciality retail, news & gift and service offer includes:

*The Atrium, featuring brands such as Build-A-Bear, Brookstone, Herschel Supply Co. and Sunglass Hut

*Hudson Nonstop and a Hudson travel convenience store.

*Minute Suites, where passengers can rent out a private room

*SLC Public Market, a convenience and local speciality store with a theme based around Salt Lake’s Farmer’s Market

*Utah Jazz Pro Shop.

When selecting Phase 2 concessions, airport company management said it wanted a mix of local, regional and national choices, while taking into consideration pricing, hours of operation and service standards. When the first phase of The New SLC opened, all concessions offered street pricing, which is a requirement for Phase 2 as well.

“Passengers have given the Phase 1 concessions four-star reviews,” said Salt Lake City Department of Airports Executive Director Bill Wyatt. “We expect Phase 2 selections to be just as popular.”

The New SLC Phase 2 encompasses a 22-gate extension of Concourse A. The first four Delta Air Lines’ gates will open in Spring 2023, followed by 18 Delta gates in Autumn 2023.
