R&F Travel Retail introduces new duty free concept at Harwich International Port

UK. Stena Line affiliate R&F Travel Retail is tomorrow (20 July) launching a new duty free concept – centred on convenient shopping – at England’s Harwich International Port.

According to R&F Travel Retail Head of Business Development Tony Michaelsen, the new store is “all about our customers and how to create a shopping experience as convenient as possible for them”.

He continued: “Our idea is really simple: customers can drive to the shop, buy their full allowance and then simply put it in the trunk of their car and drive onboard the ferry. No heavy carrying needed.

“We know that customers want convenience, and this is a great add-on service to the duty free shopping offered onboard the ferries. While we don’t offer a click&collect opportunity today, we plan to launch that functionality before the end of this year.”

The Harwich store, which is set to open tomorrow (20 July), marks the retailer’s third shop in the UK. R&F Travel retail made headlines last year with the opening of a store in a 40-ft container in Holyhead, Wales, a key ferry port for sailings between the UK and Ireland.

The company, which is tripling the size of that shop, also operates a store at Fishguard Port.

Another new R&F store is due to open soon in Hook of Holland in the southwestern corner of Holland.
