SWEDEN. Stena Line affiliate company R&F Travel Retail has appointed Mats Malmgren to the newly-created role of Retail Operations Director. He brings wide experience of leadership in several retail segments.
He previously held senior retail roles in Sweden with companies including Swedish pharmaceutical manufacturer Apoteksgruppen, Office Depot and Home Furnishing Nordic.
Malmgren joins at a time when R&F said it has seen a surge in the demand for travel retail products after COVID-19 travel restrictions were removed. Last year, the company opened a travel retail shop at Cologne Bonn Airport, and the company has also opened several new border shops in Holyhead, Fishguard and most recently in Harwich, with more in the pipeline.
Malmgren said: “This opportunity comes at an exciting time for R&F. We have an ambitious growth plan and a retail concept that we want to take to the next level. My job is to oversee our retail expansion – a challenge that I am really looking forward to.”
