“Revitalising an iconic beauty business” — Coty appoints Sue Y. Nabi as Chief Executive Officer

Sue Y. Nabi spent 20 years with L’Oréal before launching her own ultra-luxury vegan skincare brand Orveda in 2017

Coty has appointed Sue Y. Nabi as Chief Executive, effective 1 September.

She succeeds Coty Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Peter Harf, who will be elevated to the role of Executive Chairman. Harf will work closely with Nabi to develop Coty’s ongoing strategic transformation

As reported, Coty Chairman Peter Harf recently assumed the additional role of Coty Chief Executive Officer in June as part of the creation of a three-person Executive committee. Other members of the Executive Committee are Coty Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Pierre-André Terisse and Coty Chief Transformation Officer Gordon von Bretten.

Nabi brings more than 20 years of beauty experience to her new role. In 2017, she launched  her own vegan ultra-luxury skincare brand Orveda with Co-Founder Nicolas Vu.

Prior to this, she held several top leadership positions in L’Oréal Group, and was Worldwide President of the L’Oréal Paris and Lancôme brands.

A champion of diversity in beauty marketing, Nabi was instrumental in developing L’Oréal Group’s inclusive ‘beauty for all’ message. She joined L’Oréal Group in 1993 and became the youngest President in the company’s history.

As Worldwide President of L’Oréal Paris, she developed a strong product innovation pipeline, standout packaging and diverse marketing campaigns. In 2009 Nabi became the Worldwide President of Lancôme, where she used the same winning formula to expand Lancôme’s makeup and skincare categories; achieving double-digit growth for three straight years.

Coty Executive Chairman Peter Harf commented, “Sue is renowned as a visionary and ongoing game-changer whose outstanding creativity is celebrated in the beauty industry. I am proud that she now wants to bring her unique sense of inspiration to Coty.”

“Peter and Coty’s leadership have laid the groundwork to revitalise an iconic beauty business,” added Nabi. “I’ve been following their progress avidly and am inspired and energised by the opportunity to proudly lead the global Coty team into the future as we build the new, more modern Coty.”
