Retail inMotion launches new inflight programme for Aer Lingus

IRELAND. LSG Group subsidiary Retail inMotion has launched a new inflight retail programme for Irish national carrier Aer Lingus, effective from 1 November.

As reported, since April Retail inMotion has been supporting Aer Lingus with retail services, including range development, category management, crew training and menu card & catalogue design. Retail inMotion also now assumes responsibility for managing the financial performance of the airline’s onboard retail and duty free programmes.

Aer Lingus Chief Operating Officer Mike Rutter: “We have found the right long-term partner to develop our Bia and Boutique offerings.”

A dedicated retail management team has been appointed to drive revenues and cost efficiencies for the airline, noted Retail inMotion. Vector In-Flight, Retail inMotion’s proprietary onboard retail management software, has been implemented to enable onboard payments, manage supply chain and warehouse logistics, ensure full end-to-end reconciliation and provide full back-office functionality. The technology aims to increase efficiency and decrease complexity for Aer Lingus employees. It has received positive feedback from staff and crew, claimed Retail inMotion.

Aer Lingus Chief Operating Officer Mike Rutter said: “We are very proud of our new partnership with Retail inMotion. Following an extensive tender process, we are convinced that we have found the right long-term partner to develop our Bia and Boutique offerings into the future. Now that the new programme has been successfully launched, we look forward to working closely in partnership, to further enhance our award-winning guest experience.”

“Aer Lingus is an established market leader in the aviation industry and well-known for offering an outstanding onboard retail experience to their passengers,” added Retail inMotion Chief Executive Officer Stefan Patermann. “With Retail inMotion’s expertise in this industry and access to global resources, we are fully committed to taking the airline’s onboard retail programme to the next level.”
