New look for old spirit: Mount Gay Rum Extra Old, is a blend of the finest aged spirits from the Mount Gay reserves
US. A new presentation of Mount Gay Rum Extra Old will be unveiled by Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail at the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas in Florida this month (Stand number: 1607).
Mount Gay Rum Extra Old will be presented in a new bottle embossed with the company crest with a black coloured label.
Extra Old is a blend of the finest aged spirits from the Mount Gay reserves, fashioned from sugar cane and coral-filtered water native to the Caribbean island of Barbados. The spirit is matured in Kentucky oak.
Mount Gay Rum Extra Old has a “luxuriously complex” bouquet with a smooth, lingering finish, the company said. Its rich oak character is balanced with notes of ripe banana and toast, followed by vanilla, pastry and warm spice.
The rum has been created by master blender Allen Smith to appeal to connoisseurs of premium and super-premium brown spirits.
The company said: “It is appropriate that Mount Gay Rum Extra Old should be unveiled to the international community at the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas from 22 to 25 March; the US accounts for a full 35% of global sales of rum, with other countries in the Americas adding up to a further 20%.”
